On Telling the Truth

September 19, 2006

There is a popular bumper sticker out these days that says, "If you aren't outraged, you're not paying attention."

As spiritual people, we are often under the mistaken notion that we are not supposed to be outraged, and if we are high vibrating beings, we should always be in a state of peace, love, and forgiveness. But the truth is, the higher vibrating you are at this point, the more outraged you should be. Being "nice" is not a sign of being a high vibrating person.

As most of you know, there are thousands of websites available dealing with spiritual issues. I was surfing the web the other day, and I am seriously concerned over what I saw. I am not criticizing any site in particular, but a word of warning to all of you. Be very discriminating on what you believe and read online.

Many of these sites are owned by people who supposedly have worldwide reputations for being spiritual leaders. But the problem is, they are not telling the truth. Many of them are telling you the sugar-coated version of what is happening on the planet—what we want to hear, not what we need to hear. And, in most cases, you can bet your bottom dollar that they are also trying to sell you a CD, DVD, or book. There is nothing wrong with selling your products online! We should all do that—it is an excellent marketing tool. What I'm saying is that we should not get caught up in pretty words that promise us a life of bliss in 3 easy steps.

I went to a website the other day that did just that. If you would follow their advice, you were nearly guaranteed to have all the money, love, and happiness you could ever imagine. Just by knowing these little secrets.

It was free advice, so I read it. I thought, OK, let's see. Well, all it was, was typical New Age jargon—focus your mind, visualize, get rid of negative thoughts, etc., etc. But that's bullshit, right? I mean, there is so much more to it than that. Not that I don't believe this is good advice—of course we should all focus on what we want, work to be positive, work on the spiritual aspect of our lives.

But let's be perfectly honest here. Most of you would not be reading this if you were not engaged in spiritual growth. And we have all spent countless hours, days, years doing our affirmations, visualization, focusing our energy and so on. But has it really gotten you what you want? Sure, you may get an unexpected lump of money, find a wonderful relationship, or get the job you wanted, but did it really get you where you want to be? Was that the answer to your life's purpose?  Be honest!

The world is in such a monumental state of transition, that survival on this planet is not about 3 easy steps. We need to go over every aspect of our life and all our past lives with a fine-toothed comb, and clear out everything that has been programmed in our DNA from the beginning of time.

There are many very effective ways of spiritual cleansing, like shamanic work, past-life regressions, etc. Find one that resonates with you. It is painstaking work, and requires making massive changes in our lives. We have to be diligent, perseverant, and totally committed. Then, and only then, do I believe, that when the planet finally reaches her own vibrational goal, will the people who have stuck it out, determined to never repeat the past patterns again, will we finally be able to manifest our desires, freely and quickly. But now, we are still in the process of "taking out the garbage"—my favorite term.

The drag being created by the current energetic gap on the planet, this gaping chasm between those of us who have relentlessly worked on our spiritual lives, and those who still abide here, who simply are not capable of perceiving life beyond the illusion, has become a painful block to those of us who yearn to move forward. One of these groups will depart the planet before December 21, 2012; either the high vibrating people will move to another dimension, to leave the low vibrating ones here, where they may promptly destroy themselves and what remains of the planet, or the low vibrating people will leave, and those that remain will quickly begin the process of manifesting a world of peace and perfection.  In any case, when the two sides become separated, then manifesting our hearts desires will be easy.

What also bothers me is that many of these spiritual people refuse to acknowledge that there is an extremely evil force at work. Harry Potter's adventures are not fantasies. There really is a Voldemort (or choose whatever evil being you like); it is not a fairy tale. We are in a battle between good and evil, and it is tearing the world apart. Spiritual gurus who claim that we are all beings of light are wrong. We are not.

On the AP news on Road Runner, there was a story about 3 young men who dug up the grave of a recently buried young woman to have sex with her corpse. These people are not human. A human being would not do that! They are evil something-or-others, that don't belong on this planet. Yet, in this age of anything goes, politically correct, let the 12-time DUI out of jail so he can kill someone else, we seem to be less than fazed at such a hideous crime that these young men committed. We are afraid to call evil what it is—we don't want to label it, meanwhile, our planet is overrun with it. As long as we pretend it isn't there, it will have power over us. When we face it and call it what it is, then we have a fighting chance to overcome it.

As those of you who are regular readers of my newsletters know, I had a demonic entity living in my house for years. First little things began to happen, then it got worse and worse, and worse. It killed 12 of my animals, and started every major appliance in my house on fire before I got rid of it. So, why did it take me so long? Because I didn't believe in it!! As a devoted spiritual person, I kept working on myself, thinking, what is it about me that needs to heal, that needs to be cleansed, and on and on. The harder I worked on my spiritual life, the nearer to death I got. Finally, it was an innocent remark by a friend, who simply said, "There really is something after you—it isn't you." That one sentence changed my whole life, because now that I was able to acknowledge evil, I could finally see it. I got a shamanic practitioner to remove it, and the terror finally ceased.

And I am not talking about the big, big things that we all know about, like  war. That is in a whole class by itself.

I am talking about the lies, corruption, greed; telling people what they want to hear in order to win public support and popularity. Don't you ever wonder why some people are so successful, recognized, making lots of money, while others, who deserve to be heard, who are speaking the truth, seem to have a path filled with hurdles? In Al Gore's movie, An Inconvenient Truth, he uses a quote by Upton Sinclair: "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it."

By no means am I saying that everyone who is successful is not telling the truth, and Al Gore is a perfect example. But his path has certainly been strewn with hurdles. He did not get where he is in 3 easy steps. It has taken him years and years to finally get the scientific community at large, and certainly the general public, to take notice of what he has been teaching.

And returning to our list of evils, of course, there is lack of integrity, manipulation, and certainly, self-serving abuse of the planet which Gore has exposed in a wonderfully effective way.

These are the sneaky evils, but the ones that, in the long run, are having the biggest impact on the world, and the ones that are hardest to spot, because we have become programmed to accept this behavior from humanity. And the worse behavior we accept, the worse it gets. It has reached levels of insanity, yet most people still think that's the way life is supposed to be and that's the way normal people behave.

We all want the warm fuzzies. We turn to spiritual life because we think it will give us comfort. But the real reason for becoming spiritually conscious is to shake us up, turn us upside down, and force us to face our demons. When a shaman makes his or her rite of passage, he/she goes out into the wilderness to face fears and demons. Being spiritual isn't about being comfortable. It is about being miserable and still sticking with it because you cannot imagine continuing your life of illusion, and you will do anything, anything you need to do to get out of your present situation of living an untruth. When living an untruth becomes as life-threatening as trying to breathe while someone holds your head under water, then you will understand what spiritual commitment is about.

It is about becoming so discerning with what you accept in your life as the truth, that you find yourself slipping out of this present reality, because your life no longer works by those rules. It is about becoming totally invisible to the rest of the world because you simply cannot function at their level any more. It is about refusing to succumb to the accepted norm, no matter how uncomfortable your life becomes. When enough of us are able to do that, the energy on the planet will shift. Then and only then will we make our rite of passage, and earn our reward. And our reward will be freedom. And once we are free, the universe becomes our playground.
