Avoidance

October 22, 2006

The phrase that keeps running through my head lately is "Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we shall die." Hmmm. . . that sounds like a real doom-and-gloomer, but in fact I see it as a wake up call. We still have time to change. And, slowly but surely, I am seeing some people finally waking up. I am especially heartened by several people on my mailing list who finally "get it" and have begun their process of "taking out the garbage."

   But not enough.

Many readers may interpret my writings as "negative." Well, hmm. . . . on that one, too. I have always perceived myself as one of the most positive people I know. How else could I possibly have survived the ordeal I experienced over the last ten years?

But to most people, if it makes you feel good, it is positive. If it makes you uncomfortable, it is negative. But I see it as just the opposite. It is our discomforts that are telling us that we can no longer operate in the universe in which we have been living for such a long time. And the more miserable we are, the more energy we are putting into forcing change. Take it from one who knows first hand. Woe to you if you are feeling great these days. . .

But I don't think the issue is that we are feeling great, happy, satisfied, fulfilled, peaceful, prosperous, (no matter how much material wealth we have), healthy, and particularly loved at this point. I think the issue is that we are avoiding facing what is really going on in our lives, by pretending we are living all of the above. We think that we are being positive if we focus on "feeling" those feelings. But what we are really doing is lying to ourselves to avoid facing the issues in our lives that need to be purged. I will say this again and again and again. NO ONE will get in to the new dimension to which we are fast and furiously headed while still carrying old baggage. If we do not scrutinize our lives in great detail, and take out the garbage—everything we know is not working—from relationships, to jobs, to lifestyles and bad habits, to all that old trash we have in our basement, attic and yard, we will remain stuck in a world growing quickly extinct. It we do not go back and review all our past lives, and free the karma and destructive DNA patterns, we will not be admitted to the next world. I have been saying this for two years. Less and less people seem to be listening.

I was talking to a friend the other day, and I was perplexed as to why so many people in this area are so determined to hold on to their misery. "Maybe they are just not miserable enough yet," I said. She looked at me skeptically. "Or maybe, they have a high misery tolerance," I suggested. With that, she agreed.

I have an extremely low misery tolerance. In fact, if my life isn't EXACTLY the way I want it to be, if I am not getting EXACTLY what I want, then I won't accept it. After all I have been through, I simply refuse to accept anything that is not perfect. I have raised my standards again and again, and know that I deserve nothing but the absolute best. And I will not stop until I get what I want. Struggling and making do and settling for what you get simply are not part of a high vibrational existence.

What this has done is fueled an extraordinarily strong drive to move forward, almost to the point of being giddy. But that is what this up and coming world is all about. Don't you see? We were never meant to settle for second best. We are gods and goddesses, and when we finally recognize that, then we become unstoppable. I know that I, personally, am one of the strongest movers and shakers on the planet today, because I know what I want, and I intend to get it. When you reach the point where nothing but the best will do, then you will claim your power, also. You begin to change your energy output so that you are constantly pushing and pushing and pushing up against those energies that try to hold you back. Then one day, you realize you have over powered one, and then another, and then another. So you not only begin to see results in your life, but you feel a planetary change as well.

But instead, what I am seeing is a very disturbing pattern of avoidance, even, (and especially) by my so-called "spiritual" friends. It seems so many people have reached a plateau where they are relatively doing OK, and they know at an intuitive level that one little jiggle, and they will rock the boat. So they sit very still, lie to themselves, and pour their energy into holding on to what they've got. I see this at a local level, but also at a national level. Most of the "spiritual gurus" who have made it in the public eye, really have not changed for decades. They are still operating in a 1980s-'90s vibrational level. I have lost interest in all the authors I used to love. There are few who speak anything of value to me any more. Most of it is old, outdated news. Although, I do realize that people who are just getting started on the spiritual path will find their teachings useful. But there are also many of us who need to move on, and have not.

Last summer (2005), I noticed, at least locally, a trend begin, that is still continuing. People seemed to be losing interest in things related to holistic/metaphysical lifestyle. Businesses that were previously booming took a sharp plunge. I think in many cases, those who were not truly committed seekers, who wanted to find that magic bullet that would somehow cure all their ills were not finding it in meditation, yoga, or the numerous other modalities being practiced in the area. When they realized they actually had to commit to their own inner healing, they were off to find the next instant gratification. I am seeing that become even stronger. People are less interested in working on themselves, and more interested in finding someone who can "fix them". So they essentially make a commitment to nothing.

So, that is one way in which we avoid.

But there are many others, and now we get into the really irritating stuff. . .

Ok, so we all know about the obvious escape tools: drinking, drugs, overeating,

Sex, when used as a means to escape or manipulate. Overspending. That's one you may not have thought of, but every time I see the stock market reports gleefully announcing that the Dow has set another record, there goes that little ditty again. . .Eat , drink, and be merry. . .

We are not in anything even remotely resembling a healthy economic situation in this country or this world. Maybe the wealthiest 5% of the population is, the ones who control the world at this point. I read on the AP news that 135 corporations are being investigated for corruption and fraud. Just look at Enron. One minute, everything looked great in the books. And the next minute, lots of people who thought they were rich found themselves out of a whole lot of money. I don't trust any reports on what I hear about the economy. I go by my gut feeling, and there is nothing about it that feels right.

We are, as a society, constantly bombarded by the message that too much is better, so we are assaulted by too much of everything. Too much entertainment. I was talking to someone when I was took a load of trash to the Palmyra recycling place. He made a comment that all anyone cares about anymore is entertainment. Movies, videos, DVDs CDs, computer games, sports, concerts, Cell phones that often do everything better than connecting a call. It is becoming insane. But even more, it is becoming dangerous.

I believe it is the Dark Forces sending all this distraction to those who are easily pulled along with the crowd, like dangling a carrot in front of a mule. However, the mule never really does get the carrot. It just keeps dangling out of reach, manipulating the mule to go in whatever direction the carrot goes. And so we are pushed and pulled along with the latest trend, only to find that it really doesn't give us what we want or need. What it does is waste our precious time that should be spent getting our spiritual lives in order.

But it is not only entertainment that is too much. It is everything that is too much. Too much noise, too many people, too much technology, to the point where our brains can barely comprehend any more. Does anyone else but me long to return to the very simple ways of doing things? I really do, mostly, but the minute I step off this farm, I am overwhelmed by a world that is just. . .too much. It is becoming painful.

The energetic clutter on the planet is reaching unbearable levels. It is getting more and more difficult to communicate, though we are led to believe it is easier. In the "olden days" people used to visit, chat, come over for lunch, be there for each other. Now we have instant messaging and cell phones glued to our ears. But we are more removed from each other than we have ever been.  We have become a society of robots, and that has little to do with raising our vibration. It is more about being sucked into a lifestyle that no longer values our humanity. We are hamsters on a wheel and we have forgotten how to get off.

While all these modern conveniences we have are supposed to give us more free time, most people I know are working more hours than ever. I am disheartened by the fact that even the "healers" I know are so caught up in the "make a living" world that they have forgotten how energy really works. Those who get off the hamster wheel will begin to remember our roots—how we were at the beginning of time—able to create from a thought, and enjoy our creations. When enough of us decide to become humans rather than hamsters, a monumental shift will take place.

Or maybe we just don't want to. After all, busyness is a wonderful excuse to avoid the really difficult task of dealing with the garbage.

Whether we like it or not, or even want to admit it, the evolution of this planet will continue without everybody being on board. There are too many of us that simply will not tolerate the insanity. Or at least enough of us at this point to tip the scales. And when the scales do tip, many of us might find ourselves facing our garbage head on, with no place to run

So what is the first step you can take? Stop. Just stop. Then begin asking yourself all those hard questions you have been avoiding. Rather you ask them, than have a crisis throw them in your face.

We are in an extremely difficult period on the planet, there is no denying that. But for those who are determined to get to the other side of all this, the rewards will be awesome.
